As the 6th Annual Spend the Day in a Chair Challenge^TM got underway in June, there was much excitement as Executive Director, Joanne Heward committed to being profiled for 2011.

With much support and encouragement from the entire Action Centre, Joanne set off for a full day in her chair: STM Adapted Transport through LaSalle, testing the handicap access at Tim Horton’s; managing her regular agenda of meetings at the Centre; and attempting to assimilate to various scenarios – as with a stroke, one side paralysis, etc. - in moving around in the chair.

The highlight was escorting a dozen members across the street to the Dairy Queen.

Congratulation to Joanne for a very successful outing, raising money for the Member’s own internal fundraising activities.

In 2010, Global TV and CJAD joined forces to bring attention to the 5th Annual Spend the Day in a Chair Challenge^TM.
